Men’s
Fraternity Kick-Off is September 16
6:00-7:00 AM, in the Worship Center
Men’s Fraternity: “The Quest for
Authentic Manhood” is a 24-week journey to help men discover and implement a
firm, biblical definition of manhood. Join
with dozens of other guys each Tuesday morning as we look at how a man is made
and what a man does. Cost is $15 to
cover materials and we are dismissed by 7:25 AM each week. This is a perfect study to invite your
coworkers or friends to. Step up and
discover what God has called you to. To

Help us Collect Food for the “Daily
Bread Shop”
September is the month that Westwood
collects food or other items to donate to the Shelby Baptist Association’s
“Daily Bread Shop”. The “Daily Bread
Shop” provides food and toiletry items to many needy families in Shelby County. Some of the Items that are needed are: canned
goods, cereal, crackers, peanut butter, jelly, soap, toothpaste, and other such
items. Please drop off your donations
in the shopping carts located in the Atrium and at the top of the stairs. You will also find a shopping list of the
most needed items on the table by the carts.

women of Westwood are invited to bring a mug for coffee or tea and come for an evening
of fellowship and encouragement on Thursday, September 18, 6:00-8:00 PM, in the

last name begins with A-L please bring a sweet treat to share...M-Z bring
something salty! There is no childcare

ADULTS
Teacher Training
Event on September 21
The
Shelby Baptist Association is sponsoring a leader training event on Sunday,
September 21, for adult, youth, children and preschool teachers. Also included are sessions for adult
fellowship, outreach, and care group leaders. Hour long sessions
will be held at 4:00 PM and at 5:10 PM at the First Baptist Church of
Columbiana. A Sunday School Rally at
6:30 PM will feature Daniel Edmonds sharing “A Tale of Two Classes” from his
real experiences visiting different churches.
Join Jay Gordon and others who’ll be there to sharpen their tools.
Grief
Support Group begins September 17
If
you have lost a loved one and would like to be a part of a support group to
help move through the grief process, you are invited to a Grief Support Group
meeting on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:30 PM. The group will meet September 17
through October 24, meeting in SGB Room B-6.
There is no charge for the class; but we do ask that you sign up by
clicking “Event Registration” at wwbc.org, or by calling Wendy Sipes at
664-0122.
Join
the 911 Team
We
are currently organizing and improving our 911 team to be prepared to respond
to medical emergencies on campus. This
team steps in to help until city personnel are called and arrive. They also help with any injuries that occur
on campus. If you are a
trained medical personnel, we would love to have you as part of our
team. Kelly Forrest is our new team
leader and is recruiting and organizing people who feel called to help. Please call Kelly at 664-9769 or email him at

Forerunner’s
Luncheon —September 18
All adults 55+ are invited to attend our
Forerunner’s Luncheon on Thursday, September 18, at 11:30 AM, in the SGB
Gathering Area. We ask that you bring
your best soup or dessert and we’ll provide the sandwiches. Bruce Pickell will
be our special guest speaker. You don’t
want to miss this great time of fellowship.

Church Conference is Wednesday, September 24
There
will be a proposal presented for vote on the calling of Bobby Culpepper to join
the equipping staff
with the title of Minister of Missions. Please mark your calendar to
attend the regularly scheduled Quarterly
Church Conference at 7:30 PM, on Wednesday, September 24.
All Women are Invited to the Women’s Ministry “Trees & Scapes”
Tickets will
go on sale, Sunday, September 28 for the Women’s Ministry big fall event, “Trees
& Scapes”.
The event is on Friday, November 14, with doors opening at 5:30 PM. The cost is $10 and includes a time of
browsing through beautifully decorated table scapes
& trees, while mingling with your friends and enjoying hors d’oeuvre. Guest speaker will be Kym Garraway from
Hattiesburg, Mississippi; special music will be by Page Hughes. Mark your calendar!

Sparks Very Important Parent Night

a V.I.P. night where you will be our special guest! Also on this night we will have Jade and Shelah Acker, missionaries from Africa, sharing with us in

us. Parents of 3rd-5th graders are

Teaching Care (ETC)
The new ETC rotation
begins in September. ETC is a great place to give service a try. This is a once a month commitment where
adults come to relieve the weekly teachers so they can go to Worship or Adult
Bible Study. Positions are available
during the 9:30 & 11:00 AM services.

Middle School
DNOW Host Homes Needed
Middle
School Disciple Now has moved to the fall. We need host homes, food coordinators, and
transportation drivers (anyone with a big vehicle). We are going to need around 8-10 couples to
host students at their home for 2 nights, October 24-25. We also need a food coordinator for each
house and drivers to help transport students and luggage to various homes and
events. If you would be willing to open
your home,
vehicle, and time for this awesome weekend

Disciple
Now for Middle School is October 24-26
This
is a great time for your middle school student to get together with their
friends all weekend for a time of worship, fun, fellowship and great
music. The cost is $40 which will feed
your student plus give them 4 hours of unlimited go-karts, laser tag, and
skating at Trussville Playstation. Adam Robinson will be the speaker and Chuck Hooten is our worship leader. You don’t want to miss this awesome
weekend. You can register at the
Information Desk, at AREA 51 or at LIFE Groups on Sundays.
